Blackbirds And Broken Hearts

This song is one of my favorites. I love the simplicity of it, and the words are so meaningful if you really hear them. Today, after some pretty hurtful words were said to me, this song came into my head. I immediately began to sing this, as I sat alone in my room, and began to think of how I am like the blackbird. How I must take my broken wings and learn to fly. I cannot stand motionless in a forward moving world. If I want to succeed, and be happy, I must move forward into the unknown. Be strong, and keep trying. Get up when I fall, and not concede to the things that try to bring me to my knees. I must stand.

“Blackbird”

Blackbird singing in the dead of night.
Take these broken wings and learn to fly.
All your life,
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night.
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see.
All your life,
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly,
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly,
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night.
Take these broken wings and learn to fly.

All your life,
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.

  1. Very inspirational! This is one of my favorite songs too. I love the version in the movie Across the Universe. If you haven’t heard it, you should check it out. It’s the same song, but they changed the tempo a little bit 🙂
